Crazy Weather Day!!!!

Today I definitely did not feel like I lived in Southern California. This morning when I looked out my window as I do every morning to check the weather ( so I can dress accordingly) I saw something similar to this:

Sort of overcast but the kind of overcast that will clear up by noon so you just had to wear a sweater in the morning. So i left the house wearing a t-shirt, 3/4 sleeve sweater, capris, and flip flops. I went about my morning and met with another supervisor around 10:30. Half way through our meeting at Starbucks, we started seeing lightning and hearing thunder. Next thing you know, we look out the window and saw this:

Pouring rain and a hail storm. There was no way to get to my car without getting wet, so Sunday and I made a dash for it. In a matter of thirty seconds, I was drenched, dropped my folder in a puddle, and my shoe fell off. I could not see as I was driving to my parents and the streets were already flooded. You could not see the tires on some of the cars. Then it was over in about an hour. After it had cleared up and was relatively safe to drive, I headed home to dry off and get ready for a second time that day. I went to another one of my case and went back to my parents for dinner before heading to my last meeting for the day. Once I get to my parents my dad tells me that there is a tornado at March Air Force Base, approximately 25 minutes north of us and is heading towards. It caused a semi truck to overturn and derailed a train! So Temecula had a tornado watch! Crazy, huh! Well, my last meeting was cancelled because none of us wanted to drive. So once the warning had been lifted and I felt like it was safe enough to drive, I headed home in the pouring rain. Here is a picture of the tornado:

What a crazy, crazy day. It is never this cold around Memorial Day but of course the weekend that I don't have school and had planned to go to the beach, I get this kind of weather. Oh well, what can you do about it? You can't control Mother Nature. Hopefully, Southern California weather will come back to us soon because I definitely miss it. 

Beach Cruisers and Sea World

So, last weekend Matt, Angela, Josh and I headed down to San Diego to take advantage of the free tickets to Sea World that are avalable to military personal and their dependents. I couldn't wait because I had just gotten home from my Saturday class and was not a happy camper (did I mention SATURDAY class during the SUMMER, the worst idea ever). It was the perfect day weather wise, a little bit overcast, not to hot. Before we made it to Sea World though, we stopped at a bike store that sells beach cruisers at a pretty reasonable price. Since Josh got me mine for my birthday, we have been trying to find him one so we can ride together. Hereare some pics of Matt and him testing some out.

Unfortunaltey, there were so many to choose from that Josh had a hard time making a final decision. So we are still on the hunt for the perfect beach cruisers that does not cost a gazillion dollars. So after about an hour at the bike store we finally made it Sea World. Let me tell you, we had a blast!

this was at the sea lion and otter show. None of us had ever seen it and it was hilarious. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the sea otter because he was adorable.

I loved this guy. He was definitly all about posing for the crowd and the "Paparzzi". Next we headed to the Shark Encounter. It was a little creepy seeing these guys so close up especially after the recent shark attacks here on the West coast. 

Would NOT want to see the size of the shark these teeth came from. 

Here we are at the doplhin show. It never ceases to amaze me how high these animals can jump and all the amazing tricks they can perform.

Here we are at the Penguins. They are my absolute favorits animal at Sea World. Josh knows we have to see them before we leave or it will not be a fun ride home (Just Kidding). By the time we got to them it was dark out so I do not have any good pictures of the penguins. 

I had the best ice cream sunday towards the end of the night and Josh tried to steal it from me. The results of that are shown below. 

Last but not least, good 'ol Shamu. I still can not believe that people go swimming with these animals let alone let them push them up into the sir. Crazy!

It was such a fun day that ended with us watching fireworks on the beach. I can't wait to go back when so we can take Matt and Angela's baby to enjoy all the fun things too.

Is it Over Yet?

I am completely ready for a break from school. As I sit here on the computer trying to finish my final for my class TONIGHT, I can't help but to think about what it will be like when I am done with school. What will I do with my free time, will I be bored and want to go back for more (Probably not), or will I feel like I have a life again? Just one more semester of classes and two of fieldwork, I can do it. Part of my stress is that I always leave things till the last minute, as you can see, I am writing on my blog rather than my final that is due TONIGHT! Oh well, I guess I have to just keep working through. It will definitely be worth it in the end and hopefully SOON I will be able to see that light at the end of the tunnel because right now it is very, very dim.

Dana's Birthday!!

Today is one of my best friend's Birthday!! Happy 25th Birthday Dana!! She is such an awesome friend and I am so lucky to have her be a part of my life. Poor thing is up at law school in Oregon and has to study for finals on her birthday (but it will be worth it in the end).

Miniature Golf

Last night, after we went to dinner with my parents, Matt, Angela, Josh and I decided to go miniature golfing because Angela had never been. Mulligan's in Murrieta is a happening place on a Saturday night, I have never seen so many kids, teenagers, and families there. 

I was such a nice night out which made it even more fun, the weather was perfect. We didn't even need jackets. Matt was the winner by a landslide, with a hole in one and everything. I have not laughed as hard as I did last night in a long time. It is definitely a sport that requires patience, making it a little harder for some than others. We may go back to bowling for awhile and try mini golf again at a later date :)

Godparents Again

Our good friends, Matt and Angela, are expecting their first baby! They are so excited and we couldn't be happier for them. They just found out on Wednesday after 5 positive pregnancy tests. The funny thing is Angela told everyone she was pregnant for April Fool's Day and then a week later found out she really was. They are going to be great parents and we can't wait to share all the excitement with them. They also surprised us by asking us to be their baby's godparents. We were so honored and told them "Of Course!"

We went to dinner with my parents on Saturday night and this is when they asked us to be Godparents.

Now we just have to wait 9 months to see their little bundle of joy. In the mean time, I can shop for things to spoil the baby with.

Party and Presents

So, my birthday week is official over (as of last Sunday) and I thought I should post this pictures before May comes around. Friday night before my BBQ, Josh had this surprise all rigged up for me. A couple of months ago, I had mentioned that I wanted a beach cruiser and he had remembered. He asked me to come out to the garage to help him carry somethings in to the apartment and lo and behold, this was awaiting for me.

These next few pictures are a little out of order. The first three are from when we went to Pechanga after the BBQ to play a little black jack. I must say I was not as lucky as last time, but at least I left being up $5. I can't say the same for everybody else :(

When it comes to birthdays, I am definitely a kid at heart. I love having a party and celebrating. It was such a fun day being with friends and family. A good ending to turning 25.
